HAWERY, Lillian May passed away peacefully on April 10th at Frost Manor, Lindsay in her 96th year. Born in London England, Lillian immigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1949, the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Michael Hawery. She will be deeply missed by her six children, Maureen Gribbons (Ken), Ann Sinclair (Dalton), Terry Hawery (Mary), Pat Sage (David), Jean James (Ken), Leslie Leclair (Maurice). Cherished grandma of Kelly (predeceased), Todd, Jeff (predeceased), David, Tricia, Jenna, Jodie, Shane, Aaron, Vanessa, Candace, Hilary, Leah, Elyse and step grandma to Jenny and Ben (predeceased). Great grandma to Tyla, Ebony, Olivia, Megan, Buddy, Jaxson, Lauren, Carter, Logan, Drew Astrid and Saria. Great great grandma to Maddy and Brock. Dear sister of Doris Taylor (Bill) of Stevenage Hertz, England, Edward Goodere (predeceased Shirley) and James (predeceased). Lillian lived in London during the war and worked for the Ministry of Information. While working there she did, on a few occasions, catch a glimpse of the king and queen who were there to approve all communications regarding the royal family. She met a Canadian soldier, the love of her life, and for the first few years of marriage they lived in Brighton. However, knowing Michael was lonesome for his large family in Canada, she agreed to immigrate. They settled in Lindsay, where a couple of his sisters resided, later purchasing a small farm in Reaboro, where they raised their six children. Eventually they moved back into town with the two youngest still at home. Lillian worked many different jobs over the years. She was an avid bingo and card player. She never had a drivers license and could be seen walking all around Lindsay, which I am sure contributed to her long life. Many thanks to the staff at Frost Manor who provided our mother great care and kindness. In keeping with Lillian`s wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a `Celebration of Life` on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 67, 12 York St. N., Lindsay, Ontario.
