Adele was here in my heart from before I could even remember. When remembering started, she was already a big, happy part of my life - Adele was my favourite babysitter. She was lots of fun and didn't mind reading the same picture book stories to me over and over and over. And she never played 'sit up and speak' for a cookie.

When I was a little girl, Adele lived at Heloise and Bill's home on Scarborough Road . Along with all the other Browns: Gus, Steven, Carole and Judy. At least it seemed like they all lived there; the whole bunch of them were always there. Listening to rock and roll on the radio. Chuck Berry, Elvis, Buddy Holly, all kinds of new and exciting music. Adele and her sibs were so cool, even before Dobie Gillis and Maynard G. Krebs knew the word 'cool'.

Adele used to come over to Momma Dinger's house with Jimmy. And Lois, such a tiny little girl! Adele let us climb up that old maple tree in the backyard. Or make roads and houses and holes in the sandbox where we used to lose our Dinky toys.

Then one day all of a sudden, Adele and Bob up and moved to Florida. And took my pals Jimmy and Lois with them. Something about launching rockets. To the moon!

The next time I saw Adele she was swinging in a hammock with a grandkid or six at Sharon Truscott's family reunion. 2004? 2005? All the same, it was decades, lifetimes later.

Soon after that, Adele moved back to Canada eh? Once again, she was living at Wheezy and Bill's home, this time in Lindsay. So now I could visit Adele just about every time I found myself in Ontariariario. She was a member of the Fenelon Conspiracy - Adele, Bill & Wheezy, Momma Dinger, Judy & Bill, Greg & Margie, Carole & Chuck, Johnny, Lynne (my other favourite babysitter) & Curt , along with various & nefarious nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids, maybe the odd great-grandkid, in-laws & outlaws. And headed up by Mimi, always the ringleader.

Adele. Our Adele.
And one day, all of a sudden, there she was - gone!

I feel so blessed to have been able to spend an entire summer and birthday with you when I was 12. You had me keep a journal for that summer, because you knew how precious the memories would be. Every other week you took me to have my nails done and laughed at all the outrageous colors I works choose. You gave me the biggest birthday party I can remember and introduced me to Disney on Broadway! The last time we were together was when I graduated from veterinary school and officially became Dr. Bryce. A smile was always on your face and I feel so lucky to have been able to share those moments with you. I had hoped to share many more milestones with you, but I know you are watching down on me and will always be with me!

Its hard to beleive that almost 18 years have passed since i first met Lois and had the privledge to be introduced to you. Since the beginning from our early long distance conversations and the first time we met, you were always very warm and loving to me. As the future would have it, I became your Son-In_Law and throughout the years you always shared your love and respect to me for which I will always be grateful that I had an opportunity to be a part of your life as well as your family. You often shared your life stories and found a way to put a smile on the faces of those around you. You would always ask me how the kids were doing and how Lois and I were doing. You shared so many of your family stories making it easy to feel a part off my Canadian relatives.
You are greatly loved and will surely be missed. God has gained another angel in heaven.

Your Son-In-Law
